One of our more recent projects here at F8 has involved us working with Gianni Sawyer to create a brand and website for Barspun, his new company selling high quality weightlifting apparel.
Our new designer Gemma created the logo and brand, including stationery such as business cards, comp slips and letterheads. After much consideration, the chosen brand colours were black and white with an accent colour of a dark slate blue. These colours represent the raw, intense atmosphere of the gym and weightlifting in a way that was found to perfectly represent the lifestyle that Barspun is selling.
Following on from this, a wireframe for the website has been drafted and a holding page has been created to invite visitors to sign up to a Mailchimp newsletter that would notify them when the site goes live. Our director and photographer, Hamish, has been to Gianni’s gym and has done a photoshoot as a key part of the branding process. The photoshoot was designed to capture and highlight the bareness, honesty and reality of the weightlifting environment.
By using black and white, high contrast film photography with a slightly grainy look, the images came out brilliantly and really helped define Barspun as a brand. The slogan ‘Shaped by the Bar’ further refines what Barspun is about and who they are.
